⒉Introduction to the Nange Archway Group

The Nange Archway Group is located on Zhongzhi Street, Nange Village, Xianxi Town, Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province. It is a historical building complex with a unique local style. . This archway group originally consisted of seven buildings. The five remaining ones are all facing the south and are neatly arranged on the main street of Nange Village, with a total length of 150 meters. They embody early architectural techniques and clearly demonstrate the architectural characteristics of southern Zhejiang.

The history of these archways can be traced back to the Zhengtong to Jiajing years of the Ming Dynasty. The height of each archway is about 7 meters, the width is between 5.5 and 7 meters, and the depth is about 4 meters. Despite the passage of time, they have been pre served in good condition and the surrounding historical environment has not been greatly affected. The shape and structure of the five archways are roughly the same. They are all made of mixed wood and stone structures. They have a single-bay, cantilevered design on the third floor, and the depth is supported by six pillars. The materials used are rough, and the tapers, side legs, and rising treatments are clearly visible, showing the unique dougong, beams, and roof designs, such as special-shaped dougongs, special-shaped beams, and gentle roofs, showing rich architectural details.

The Nange Archway Group is large in scale and complete in shape. It is a rare pre served example of the Ming Dynasty archway. It combines the norms of official architecture and the characteristics of local styles. The structural design is ingenious, such as the central column being deeply buried to enhance the stability of the building. The spatial design focuses on reducing the load, showing high scientific value. What's more worth mentioning is that these five archways were built a hundred years apart. Each of them records the evolution of local style over time and has extremely high artistic value.
